Part-time Disability Support Services Specialist - 75054

POSITION SUMMARY SCC is seeking a part-time Disability Support Services (DSS) Specialist to work at our Dardenne Creek Campus (Approximately 20 hours/week). The DSS Specialist will assist students with disabilities by administering/scheduling exams, assessments and assisting with the operation of adaptive equipment. The successful candidate must be able to work independently. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist students with disabilities by administering and proctoring exams and assessments. Ensure test security, files incoming tests. Schedules student tests in person/ over the phone/via e-mail, and reschedules tests, when necessary. Works directly with the examinees as needed, per his/her disability. Transcribe assessment tests, as needed. Provides test to the Adaptive Technology Specialist for alternate text conversion. Assists with the operation of the adaptive equipment. Answers general student and faculty questions and makes referrals to the DSS Manager as needed. Explains and enforces the DSS policies and procedures to students and refers students to appropriate services, as needed. Keeps records of each DSS student's schedule. Enter daily documentation and history for each contact with student. Communicates directly with departmental assistants and faculty. Communicates and works with the assessment center as needed. Monitors forms utilized in Disability Support Services and orders when needed. Schedules exams and utilizes the College student information system Promotes the College and its programs to the community. Tracks data and prepares reports to support strategic planning. · Participates in strategic planning. Other duties, as assigned. Performs general office duties as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Requires a high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Ability to learn customized computer programs quickly. · Excellent reading/writing/oral communication and interpersonal abilities. · Interacts in a professional, open, honest, and welcoming manner to support our mission · Self-motivated with good organizational and problem-solving skills. · Exhibits adaptability and empathy. Planning and leading environment of care/safety meetings, with potential responsibilities as the safety officer in charge of compliance. Coordinating and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs in alignment with industry standards and equipment manufacturer recommendations. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree and/or five or more years of experience in hospital maintenance and/or construction within a healthcare setting are required. A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in healthcare-related facility equipment and systems operations, including expertise in chiller systems, steam boilers, hydraulic systems, building controls, electrical systems, and air handlers. Broad knowledge of TJC, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agency standards is essential. Membership in a state or national healthcare engineering association is preferred. Preferred: Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM). A valid driver's license is a prerequisite. May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts. May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
